The floorplan they provided was not to scale, so from the measurements Kyle and I took, I tried to create the most accurate representation of the floor plan I could. The problem is that we didnt measure everywhere... only places we thought we could hang stuff. oops. I think I was able to figure everything out though. There might be a few issues here and there. Because of the really bad accuracy of the floorplan they provided, the location of the lighting is a bit iffy. Again, I tried my best to remember where everything was and make sense of stuff. Here is a link to the floorplan
The lighting fixtures are in red.

One thing that I think we should determine is if everyone in the class is planning on participating in the show. Based on the energy mustered to contribute to this discussion and getting images to David for the website, and coming up with ways to help... I wonder if there aren't about a 1/3 of the group that doesn't want to be bothered. If that's the case, then we would have more wall space for those that do-- and we would have to purchase fewer materials.
ReplyDeleteHow can we find out if there are individuals that aren't interested in showing. I mean, we're just assuming everyone wants to...
We could ask people to reply to a post on the blog. If they dont reply with a "yes I want to be a part of the show" (or something similar) then they dont get in. Those are my thoughts.

Or, maybe it's just open to whomever pays Ethan by a deadline, and a posting of what they're committed to doing for the group. ? Any other thoughts?
ReplyDeletegeez guess that means i'd have to pay too then
ReplyDeleteEither you participate or you don't. That means if you don't:
ReplyDelete1. Pay Ethan $40 bucks now!
2. Participate in the damn blog
3. Participate in construction/preparing of the space.
4. Gathering materials- garbage cans, napkins, clear plastic cups, etc.
THEN YOU WILL NOT BE IN THE SHOW?!
Chris
Ethan and I are working on where the walls should go and such if that's what spurred this discussion. Sorry we didn't post that we're looking at the floorplan, etc.
ReplyDeleteI believe what started the conversation is that Prof Lotz pointed out we may not need to build too many walls if 5-6 people arent going to be in the show. So, before we build anything, we need to determine how many people WILL be in the show.

So, Ethan and I have been talking about where to put the walls and how to build them and he came up with these images.

The cost of the walls could end up being around $800 just for the 2x4s and drywall. However, maybe we can just cut back on the amount of walls (Do we really need 16 linear feet per person?). I know this has been asked before but if anyone has contacts with people in construction or home improvement stores pleaaase speak up!
PS: Kara, I got your call and message earlier, thanks for calling me back. I got home from work too late tonight and didn't want to bug you so I'll try tomorrow, but in case you check the blog: How much drywall are we getting from that professor? (I forget his name)
From what I know we are getting 6 sheets of drywall...
