PEDESTALS ASAP

Okay, here's the deal. We need cinder blocks for pedestals, and we're going to get them. If that means that a few walls get broken to get the message to hit home, then that's the way it's giong to be. No kidding. Keep in mind that the pedestal people have been diligently building WALLS evey day, and we're not going to be kept hanging. So, if there aren't cinder blocks tomorrow, needless to say a few of us will be peeved (to say the least). Thanks everybody.

So, we need to get 120 blocks to the space. If that means everybody takes 10 in their car, then that's what we'll do.
We need to figure out how they're getting paid for. Ethan has started collecting $10 from each person.
We need to figure out how to secure the MDF tops to the blocks and make it clean. (no visible screw heads on the top, clean edges -- you know, like for the walls)

Thanks everbody, and sorry if this was a little B****y, but this won't be pushed off.

  3. the tops wouldn't be difficult at all. just use a countersink and screw in some concrete screws below the surface and putty over it. or some glue on the top blocks. right now there are so many ideas flying around about the pedestals. most people don't want to do the cinder blocks because transporting them is a pain. i have a friend with a truck that i think i can volunteer to take one load. I'm tempted to say not to come to class tomorrow without cinder blocks in your car. keep discussing

  4. If you can get a truck that would be very helpful, but make sure that if you can't, please have something set up so that everyone is allowed to pick up blocks. Either give them our names or something like that.

We have two ways to attach the tops:

    1. Construction adhesive the MDF to the top two blocks. Top 2 blocks not returnable however this is the fastest and most secure option. We will have to buy a few tubs of adhesive.

    2. Put the tops on the ground then put the top 2 blocks centered on the MDF top. Mark where the wood needs to go, move the blocks, then screw in the wood. If we screw from the top, we will counter sink.
These are my recommendations, if someone has a better one, say it.
Meanwhile, the MDF tops need the edges delt with. We can trim them or bevel them (at UCF). I am open to either of these, beveling is faster, trim might look better.
Finally, everyone be sure to bring $10 to class-

  5. Kyle and David were spent this night building the pedestals, so....
KYLE & DAVID: How did the pedestals work out tonight??

As for the walls: The mud shit has been applied and I touched up a lot to fill in more. I will be at the space around 815am with the key.
I think its only Audra and I in the morning and I will give the key to AUDRA when I leave.

Tomorrow morning Wed we have to begin sanding..if all is well and dry.
